Bellator MMA has added a second mixed martial arts show at the Blaisdell Arena on Dec. 14.
The organization has teamed up with United Service Organizations to put on an event that will be free for military personnel and their family and friends. As of now, tickets will not be made available to the general public, according to a Bellator official.
The card will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Brett Primus and former two-time titleholder Michael Chandler. The main card will begin at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on Paramount Network and CMT and streamed on DAZN. Preliminary bouts will be streamed on bellator.com.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will also fight on the card against Javy Ayala.
“The USO is a historic military support organization — not just in entertainment, but in connecting them back to the things they love and fight for,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a press release. “It made perfect sense for Bellator to establish a relationship with the USO and provide a unique opportunity to Hawaii’s military population. We appreciate their service to the nation, and we hope this is just the first of many opportunities for us to work together.
Bellator MMA will also hold an event on Dec. 15, headlined by Punahou alumna Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defending her flyweight title against Valerie Letourneau.
All but two sections of the lower bowl are already sold out, according to the listing on Ticketmaster’s website.
