The Supreme Court fight is a reflection of who Americans have become.
Three intertwined but independent branches of government, a system of “checks and balances,” assumed officials would honor their duty and commit to the common good. Nice idea.
It worked for the most part. But most of us never understood how fragile that system was and how easily it could be outwitted. Now we find ourselves at a turning point, but so traumatized, that we cannot, will not, come together for solutions.
Exhausted by losing a piece of the country again, and again, and again, worn down by screaming liars and finger-pointers, the loss of facts and reason and the gleeful “gotchas,” I need some quiet soul-time, but there doesn’t seem to be a place that isn’t noisy anymore.
I only know that resisting those who want to take my country away from me is something I must not abandon.
