Hawaii island police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a student at the University of Hawaii-Hilo campus Thursday night.
Police said a female student reported to campus security that she had been accosted in the restroom by an unknown male suspect at about 7:30 p.m.
The suspect is described as 6 feet tall and wearing black denim pants and a backpack at the time of the alleged assault, police said Friday.

Suspect in fatal hit-and-run on Kauai turns himself in
Kauai police arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with Sunday’s deadly hit-and-run in Kalaheo.
The suspect, of Kalaheo, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of accidents involving serious or bodily injury or death. He was released pending further investigation.
Police said a police officer who was driving home on Halewili Road discovered a man’s body on the roadway at approximately 11:10 p.m. Sunday.
He has been identified as Florentino Maipa, 24, of Eleele.
