U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono tells us that the Brett Kavanaugh hearing is a job interview for one of the most important jobs in U.S. government. She hit the nail squarely on the head.
This is not a trial. Hirono is maligned by some for stating her opinion. This is deplorable, as is the whole process.
Think of any other job interview in any corporation where a person would be hired in spite of these allegations. Any sane corporation would pass and move on to the next candidate. Yet our president, our Congress and this candidate allowed this most important job interview to become a circus event.
Regardless of political leanings, this is a serious black mark on our government. Should Kavanaugh be confirmed, the Supreme Court will clearly be identified as a political arm of Congress and the president, and not the hallmark of separation of powers taught in government courses.
Think all our young people don’t see this? Think again.
Very sad.
