Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old woman who sustained a gunshot wound to the head Monday on Hawaii island.

The victim was medevaced to a hospital on Oahu, where Honolulu police said she was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. Positive identification is pending, and an autopsy was being performed Tuesday.

Honolulu police had information on the case because the victim was brought to Oahu, and police said she had been found outside of a suspected drug house with suspicious injuries.

Honolulu police said no firearm was found at the scene.

The Hawaii County Police Department Tuesday morning said it could provide no further information.
