In all due respect to Congress, U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono is losing her cool by swearing a lot in view of the camera. She has been recorded as saying “God d—-,” “f—- them,” “bulls—t,” perhaps others. They can all be seen by Googling “Mazie Hirono swear words.”
As our representative in Congress, her swearing is an insult to our culture and social values. I could understand if she were a retired veteran and picked up that kind of speech in her career. And I really don’t think she learned the language from our teachers in our public school system. Anyway, not in my generation.
I have never heard our other representatives, past or present, use such language. We need to elect representatives who best reflect Hawaii and what we stand for.
