Feast on hotel sale and all-night buffet

The off-Strip Westin Hotel has been sold again.

The Westin has had a string of owners since it closed as the Maxim in 2001.

It was a nongambling hotel since its casino closed last year. The new owners have not disclosed whether they’ll reinstate a casino.

Meanwhile, the former Mandarin Oriental at CityCenter has officially changed its name to Waldorf Astoria. Signage updates are underway with more detailed rebranding and renovation efforts to follow. The Waldorf is not expected to have a casino.

All-night feast: Palace Station’s Feast has added a graveyard buffet. Running daily from midnight to 8 a.m., it’s the only all-nighter in Las Vegas.

It’s the first all-night buffet since the Palms offered that option briefly last year. The price is $10.99, and only $6.99 when you show a Boarding Pass card from the casino’s free-to-join players club.

Palace Station now serves its excellent buffet all hours except 9 p.m. to midnight.

Zip on the Strip: The Las Vegas Strip’s first permanent zip line will open Nov. 9. Riders on the FLY LINQ Zip Line will launch from a 114-foot-tall tower, then “fly” the length of the LINQ Promenade at speeds of up to 35 mph, landing at the base of the High Roller observation wheel.

FLY LINQ will be open 24 hours a day. Tickets for seated zippers will cost $25 during daytime hours and $30 after dark; Superman-style zip tickets will be $35/$40.

More In-N-Out: Las Vegas’ 15th In-N-Out Burger has opened on the west side of town at Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way. They’ve popped up at a pace of nearly one every two years since the opening of the city’s first across from Wild Wild West in 1992.

Question: How many people live in Las Vegas?

Answer: The Las Vegas metropolitan area has a population of nearly 2.3 million.

Nevada’s population growth was nearly three times the national average and Las Vegas had the second fastest growth in all 50 states during the past year.

It’s estimated that an average of just under five people every hour have moved to Las Vegas in the previous 12 months.
