Japan-based apparel retailer UNIQLO plans to hold an unusual “soft opening” for its first full-size store in Hawaii next week.
The clothing chain announced Thursday that the upper level of the new two-level store at Ala Moana Center will open Sept. 28. The retailer said it does not have a projected opening date for the lower level.
The store is in the Ewa wing of the mall on levels 2 and 3. The upper level is 11,700 square feet and will contain most of the store’s retail space. The lower level is 5,600 square feet.
UNIQLO opened a pop-up, or temporary, retail space at Ala Moana in June that continues to operate.
The retailer, owned by Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., operates about 2,000 stores in 20 countries.
