Hotel security guard, 63, beaten unconscious while responding to noise complaint in Kona
Two men and a woman have been charged with attempted murder for allegedly beating a hotel security guard who was responding to a noise complaint in Kona, Hawaii island police said.
Wesley Samoa, 30, Lama Lauvao, 33, and Natisha Tautalatasi, a 41-year-old woman, were charged Tuesday with second-degree attempted murder. Their bail was set at $250,000 each.
Police said the three suspects were in a black SUV in the hotel’s parking lot at about 12:25 a.m. Monday when the 63-year-old security guard approached the SUV in response to the noise complaint.
The suspects argued with the guard and assaulted him as he was sitting in the hotel’s security golf cart, then pulled him from the cart onto the parking lot driveway, according to police. The three suspects allegedly alternated punching and kicking the guard even after he appeared to lose consciousness.
Responding patrol officers arrested the suspects.
The security guard was flown to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
