Allen K.H. Conrad Jr. of Waianae was traveling northbound on Wilikina Drive at a high rate of speed when he lost control near Kamananui Road at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 24-year-old Waianae man who died in a moped crash in Wahiawa over the weekend as Allen K.H. Conrad Jr. of Waianae.

The cause and manner of death is pending.

Police said a man later identified as Conrad was traveling northbound on Wilikina Drive at a high rate of speed when he lost control near Kamananui Road at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday.

He was thrown onto the roadway from his moped.

Police said another moped rider, a 24-year-old Nanakuli man, who was traveling near Conrad was also thrown onto the roadway after he lost control when he could not avoid the initial crash.

Conrad died at the scene.

Emergency Medical Services treated and transported the Nanakuli man to an area hospital in serious condition.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash.

Both moped riders were not wearing helmets at the time.

This is the 47th traffic-related fatality compared to 31 at the same time last year.
