World’s first instant noodles to commemorate 60th anniversary in Japan
Tokyo >> Nissin Food Products Co. is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Chicken Ramen, the world’s first instant noodles.
“The product is still our mainstay brand,” the company said.
As of 2004, 5 billion packages of Chicken Ramen had been sold. The foodmaker has not released sales figures for the noodles since then.
To commemorate the landmark year, the World Ramen Summit kicked off in Osaka Aug. 22, with executives of instant noodle makers gathering from around the world.
About 200 noodle makers from Japan, China, Russia and Brazil participated in the event.
The ramen summit began in 1997 and has been held in various nations.
