Hunters who had permits for the canceled sheep hunt on Lanai during the weekend of Hurricane Lane’s approach will be allowed to hunt on any weekend throughout the remainder of the the mouflon season, according to a statement released by the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
The hunt, scheduled for Aug. 25-26, had been canceled because of the impending approach of then-Hurricane Lane.
Hunters must provide their hunting permit when checking in, and hunter groups must participate on the same weekend, DLNR said. Mouflon hunting season runs through October.
