All major Oahu malls close ahead of Lane
Ala Moana Center, Oahu’s largest open-air shopping mall, along with the isle’s other major malls, are closed today due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Lane.
The center closed early at 4 p.m. Thursday and will remain closed all day today, with some entrances to its parking lot temporarily closed, as well.
“Ala Moana Center management will continue to monitor the storm and assess the situation to determine when it is safe to reopen,” the mall posted to its Facebook page.
Ala Moana Center joins Windward Mall in Kaneohe, which closed its doors all day Thursday, while Pearlridge Center in Aiea closed at 3 p.m. Thursday, with tentative plans to reopen Saturday. Kahala Mall closed at 4 p.m. Thursday and is closed today, with tentative plans to reopen Saturday as well.
“The Pearlridge Center management team has been and will continue to closely monitor Hurricane Lane for potential impact areas on Oahu until the threat has passed,” said the center in a news release. “The safety of our customers and tenants is our top priority.”
