Water service restored, but repairs continue in Waipahu
The Board of Water Supply has restored water to its customers after a 12-inch water main broke today in Waipahu, leaving a shopping center and numerous homes without water.
The line broke near 94-066 Leolua St. before 6 a.m. today, shutting off water to about 180 customers, including the Waipahu Town Center and some 160 apartment units on the mauka side of Leolua Street, the water supply said.
Water wagons were brought to the scene for residents and businesses.
Service was restored to all affected customers by 3:30 p.m., but the water supply was still working to finish repairs to the main at about 4 p.m.
Half of Leolua Street remained closed from the Leoku Street intersection. Residents can access Leolua Street from the Kunia Road intersection, but motorists should avoid the area if possible, the water supply said.
TheBus was routing traffic around the area.
