In an effort to bring Aloha Stadium into alignment with security practices at facilities across the country, officials say they are revising some procedures this season and examining others for the future.
Beginning with the football season, new rules limit each person to one bag that does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches in size, deputy stadium manager Ryan Andrews said.
Previously, multiple bags were allowed.
In addition, each person will be permitted to hand carry a blanket, poncho or jacket along with a soft-sided seat cushion. Exceptions are allowed only for medically necessary items after inspection at a gate designated for that purpose.
Strollers must be collapsible and able to fit underneath the seat, Andrews said.
The goal “is not just security but to also facilitate entry (to the stadium),” Andrews said.
Stadium manager Scott Chan said metal detectors are under discussion for the future but not planned for this year. “It is something we would look closer at right now if that was something a client requested,” Chan said.
