Former University of Hawaii indoor and beach volleyball player Clare-Marie Anderson was one of six student-athletes to earn the inaugural Big West Conference Service and Leadership Award, the conference announced Friday.
The award was presented to individuals who best engage with other student-athletes and are involved with their campus community and the community surrounding their institution.
Anderson, a Punahou alum, graduated summa cum laude with honors this spring with a bachelor’s of science in biology while also earning certificates in peace studies and the Peace Corps Prep program.
Anderson has served as a research intern/volunteer at Kapiolani Women’s & Children’s Hospital the past four years and was a research intern/volunteer at the UH Cancer Research Center in 2017. Anderson recently was the recipient of the John A. Burns School of Medicine Merit Scholarship.
Last summer, Anderson was one of 16 students to represent the United States at the Nobel Peace Institute in Oslo, Norway. She earned a 2017 Nobel Peace Scholar honor.
