Your kids can learn how to move to a lively Latin groove at salsa dance classes, offered weekly in Honolulu by the Linda Melodia Dance Co.
“Dancing in general helps provide a structured, active environment for children to explore movement and connect to music,” said Emily Hodges-Kant, director and co-owner of the dance company. “Dancing with a partner, such as salsa dancing, gives children a platform to learn social skills and be comfortable with themselves and others.”
During the classes, children focus on gaining coordination, fluidity, strength and flexibility in an energetic and inspiring setting, while also developing self-confidence, self-esteem and social skills, Hodges-Kant said.
“I believe salsa dancing is a great way for children to stay active, gain confidence in themselves while respecting others,” she said, “and learn the values and skills of creativity, problem-solving and risk-taking in a warm and fun environment.”
