For a memorable family outing, go on an Atlantis Submarines undersea adventure — complete with shipwrecks and possible shark sightings.
Atlantis Adventures, which owns Atlantis Submarines, celebrates 30 years of operating in Hawaii by offering kamaaina discounts every weekend until the end of the year, excluding September. Normally $115 per adult and $48 per keiki for its 48-passenger submarine tour, the special is $30 and $15, respectively.
Descend to 100 feet underwater to see marine life in sunken ships and airplane hulls, and other artificial reef systems, while also learning about coral, reef life and submersibles.
“The shuttle ride out to the dive site provides beautiful views of the Waikiki coast and often provides sightings of dolphins, turtles and when in season, whales,” noted Oahu general manager Mark Almarez.
While each day is different, the dive site is sometimes frequented by green sea turtles, yellow tangs, sharks, eels, stingrays and other marine life, he said.
“One highlight that I’ll never forget is when our sub was greeted by a whale shark that swam up to our view ports that was over 20 feet long,” Almarez said.
