Jack Kulp has been appointed deputy finance director for Maui County, effective today.
For the last six years, Kulp has been working in the Treasury Division of the Department of Finance. He has extensive private and public sector experience in economics, accounting and finance. Kulp was appointed by Maui County Finance Director Mark Walker.
Kulp fills a position vacated by Marci Sato, who left her deputy finance director position to serve as the department’s accounts administrator.
Kulp earned both a bachelor’s and master’s in science in mineral economics — energy specialization from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA and graduate certificate in accounting from the University of Hawaii.
PLUM SEASON OPENS AT KOKEE
Plum harvesting season starts today at Kokee State Park, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources announced in a written statement. Those with a weekend permit will be allowed to legally pick plums. Permits are available 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at the Kokee Museum or 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays at the state Parks Division office in Lihue. The permits are free but applicants must drop off completed forms in the box at the Kokee Museum after harvesting.
Plum harvesting is permitted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. in designated areas. Each harvester may take up to 5 pounds of plums per day for personal consumption. Other conditions are specified on the harvesting permit.
