Honolulu firefighters extinguished a fire at a two-story building in McCully early Saturday.
Eleven Honolulu Fire Department units staffed with 43 personnel responded at around 2:23 a.m.
The two-story building at 1565 S. King Street was unoccupied when fire crews arrived at 2:29 a.m. The fire was brought under control at 2:44 p.m. and extinguished by 2:57 a.m.
Fire investigators found signs of squatters in one of the units at the property but they were not a factor in the fire.
The cause of the fire was deemed undetermined. Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the structure.
No injuries were reported.
FLEEING SUSPECT HITS POLICE VEHICLE
Honolulu police arrested a 26-year-old man Saturday afternoon after he crashed a stolen car into an officer’s vehicle in Makiki.
Officers spotted the man operating a vehicle that had been reported stolen from a 70-year-old man around 12:47 p.m.
Police said the suspect was attempting to flee when he crashed the vehicle into the officer’s car.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up illegal drugs.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and second-degree criminal property damage, as well as two outstanding warrants.
ROBBERY SUSPECT ASSAULTS OFFICER
A 34-year-old woman was arrested Friday evening after she allegedly stole property from a 51-year-old woman by force then assaulted a responding police officer.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Kalihi and Laumaile streets at around 9 a.m.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery and first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer; she was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
