Las Vegas Convention Center complex continues to expand
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitor’s Authority has acquired a shopping center, an apartment complex and two adjacent vacant lots, all located off Convention Center Drive near the site of the giant Convention Center expansion currently in progress.
The purchase price was $50 million for the 8.3 acres in total that will be used to shift the footprint of the project west by about 50 feet, freeing up some tight spaces in the design.
The shopping center and apartment buildings will be demolished after their current tenants are relocated.
Work on the new convention center, which will extend all the way out to the Strip where the Riviera used to be, is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
