Fire at Kakaako luxury condo building was intentionally set

A fire burned on the roof of the Ae’o condominium building Monday night. The Honolulu Fire Department has determined a fire that occurred on the rooftop of a condominium building in Kakaako was intentionally set.

Honolulu police have initiated an arson investigation into the suspicious fire that occurred at Ae’o at 1001 Queen St. shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at 11:17 p.m. Damage was confined to the stack of construction materials on the rooftop.

No injuries were reported.

Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant said a fire investigator determined the blaze was intentionally set.

Police said there are no arrests at this time.

Damage is estimated at $20,000 to the structure and $30,000 to its contents.
