‘Iolani’s Alex Liu has been named the 2017-18 Gatorade Hawaii Boys Soccer Player of the Year, the 10th Raider to win the award.
The award is given to athletes who display outstanding athletic excellence and high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.
Liu, a senior midfielder who has signed to play for Loyola Marymount next season, helped lead ‘Iolani to the Division I state quarterfinals and was named the ILH Offensive Player of the Year. Off the field, Liu served as a publicity event planner for the ‘Iolani Fair and as a Spanish tutor and youth soccer coach. He also carried a 3.72 GPA.
