Four golfers from Hawaii failed to secure berths in the U.S. Open after falling short at sectional qualifiers Monday.
Honolulu’s Tadd Fujikawa, a Moanalua High graduate, shot a 157 at the qualifier in Roswell, Ga.
Mililani’s Jared Sawada, a Mililani High and UH alum, finished with a 147 in Daly City, Calif.
Kihei’s Chris Stutts shot a 160 in Jupiter, Fla.
Nicholas Mason, a Hawaii Hilo alum, carded a 150 in Rockville, Md.
The U.S. Open is June 14-17 in Shinnecock Hills, N.Y.
Souza qualifies for U.S. Senior Open
Stan Souza beat Weng Youngtien on the first playoff hole to win the U.S. Senior Open qualifier Monday at Waialae Country Club.
Souza, a member at Waialae, and Youngtien finished at 2-over-par 74. Philip Chun was third at 75.
Souza will play in the U.S. Senior Open in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 27 to July 1.
