Waipahu-based Rascals join NBC’s ‘World of Dance’
A Waipahu-based hip-hop dance crew with ties to one of Oahu’s largest studios is ready to compete for $1 million in the new season of “World of Dance,” premiering 9 p.m. Tuesday on NBC.
Rascals, made up of 11 dancers between the ages of 9 to 17 years old, will compete in the Junior Team division (under 18 years old) of “World of Dance.” All of the team’s members are also part of Hypersquad Dance Company.
While a publicist wouldn’t confirm Rascals’ complete roster, a press release noted the team includes Oahu residents Caitlin Ebia, Darnyle Colotario, Kayla Grado, Lauren Lindsey and Sky Balais.
“World of Dance” is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, hosted by Jenna Dewan and features Lopez as a judge alongside Derek Hough and Ne-Yo.
Now in its second season, the televised competition is an extension of a global organization established in 2008 to encourage creative expression through motion.
Identical twin brothers Laurent and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois, also known as Les Twins, won the inaugural TV competition in 2017.
