Oregon State submitting secondary violation notice to NCAA over mailings to Hawaii football players

Oregon State said today it is in the process of submitting a secondary violation notice to the NCAA over mailings sent to University of Hawaii football players.
The action comes after UH head coach Nick Rolovich, in a May 4 post on Twitter, showed recruiting materials he said were mailed to athletes on campus, including an invitation to attend the Beavers’ spring game. The names of the players the materials were addressed to were redacted in the post.
NCAA rules do not permit schools to send recruiting material to players who have already signed with or are enrolled at another institution.
An OSU spokesman said the school’s internal investigation determined “the mailer sent to the University of Hawaii program was a clerical error.”
In his Tweet, @NickRolovich wrote, “My apologies for our players not being able to attend your Spring game. Ours was the same day, bad timing. Quick question, in the 203 years of coaching, none of you realized you couldn’t actively recruit another school’s players? Sent to campus? #leakydam #sloppybeavers”
