Firefighters responded to a fire at 84-158 Orange St. at around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. They found a single-story duplex with heavy smoke coming out of units C and D.
Five occupants from unit C escaped without injuries and used garden hoses to fight off the fire before crews arrived. Occupants in Unit D were not home at the time.
No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $20,000 to its contents. The damage was reported to be confined to unit D, most of it in the dining area. The Red Cross is assisting.
Woman hurt in jump from rock
A 25-year-old woman was seriously injured late Tuesday afternoon after trying to jump off a rock formation into the ocean.
Emergency Medical Services reported that the woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition with injuries to her face and extremities.
EMS personnel responded to the incident at 6:16 p.m. in the area of Hercules Rock in Waianae.
