A 58-year-old man was in critical condition Sunday after he was struck by a car in Kaneohe over the weekend.
Police said the man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a car traveling east on Kahuhipa Street just before the Kamehameha Highway intersection at about 8 p.m. Saturday. They said bad weather may have contributed to the accident.
The driver of the car, a 76-year-old man, was not injured.
2 injured in group fight
A 41-year-old man received a stab wound to the arm and a 21-year-old man received a head injury in a group fight late Saturday on Kopke Street in Kalihi.
Police arrested the 41-year-old man for terroristic threatening and criminal property damage, and the 21-year-old for criminal property damage and two counts of felony assault, then released them pending investigation.
Both men went in serious condition to the hospital by ambulance.
Police also arrested and charged Amfy Yerten, 18, with misdemeanor assault. The fight involved three other men, ages 68, 31 and 24, according to a police report.
Brush fire destroys 30 acres in Wahiawa
A brush fire blackened 30 acres of land Sunday behind Dole Plantation in Wahiawa.
The Honolulu Fire Department said it dispatched 46 firefighters in 16 units after receiving the alarm just before 10 a.m.
Fire Capt. Scot Seguirant said firefighters initially struggled with access to the blaze and were trying to figure out the best way to get to the flames in a remote gulch.
They got the fire fully contained by 2 p.m.
