Cal State Fullerton’s Bryanna Ybarra hit two home runs to power the Titans to a 4-3 comeback win over Hawaii in the opener of their Big West softball series on Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Rainbow Wahine jumped ahead of the Titans, the Big West leaders, in the bottom of the first inning when Rachael Turner hit a two-run homer and Britnee Rossi added a solo shot.
Ybarra answered with a two-run shot in the top of the second and Fullerton (24-20, 9-1 Big West) tied the game on Zoe Richard’s RBI single in the fourth. Ybarra went deep again with two out in the top of the sixth to give the Titans their first lead of the night.
Fullerton starter Sophie Frost struck out six and walked four over six innings. The Wahine (20-19, 4-6) put the tying run on base with two out in the bottom of the seventh, but Trish Parks ended the game with a strikeout.
UH senior Dana Thomsen struck out four and walked one and took the loss in a complete-game effort.
The series concludes today with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
