Kailua resident CJ Covington will never look at a brownie the same way after recently winning more than $50,000 on “Wheel of Fortune.”
Covington, a senior at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo majoring in communication, chose the letters C, D, K and I during the game show’s bonus round after winning just over $15,000 earlier in the episode, which aired Thursday on KHON. He needed just two tries to solve his bonus round puzzle — “Batch of Brownies” — and score another $35,000.
“Get over here and behave!” exclaimed host Pat Sajak with a smile after Covington broke into a spontaneous happy dance. But once Sajak showed him exactly how much more he had won, the party was really on — Covington’s college roommate quickly stormed the set and the pair began to celebrate some more on camera.
Covington, whose Facebook page says he attended Punahou School, was selected to appear on “Wheel of Fortune” after attending a casting event near his university campus in San Luis Obispo. Before his appearance, he told the show he hoped to win enough money to start his own business.
Covington was attending the Coachella festival last weekend and declined comment when contacted by the Star-Advertiser.
