Whole Foods Market’s new Ward Village store will open on May 9, the company announced this morning.

The 72,000-square foot, two-story Queen Street location will be the Austin-based retailer’s fourth in Hawaii and its largest, with 300 employees. The store, anchoring the Ae‘o high-rise condominium on Queen Street, will offer its first, dedicated Whole Foods Market Brand Shop, boba milk teas, local beers on tap, made-in-house sugarcane juice, along with a large hot bar featuring smoked meat and several kinds of macaroni and cheese.

“We’re excited to open the doors of our new Whole Foods Market Queen store for the islands and to showcase the wonderful culinary creations found within the local communities across the state,” said Annalee England, the store’s team leader, in a news release.

Among made-, grown- or raised-in-Hawaii products to be carried at the store are Moku Pua soap, Sweet Aloha Organic Honey and Hala Tree Coffee. Dining will be available at indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Some highlights:

>> Made-in-house Ko Hana Heirloom Sugar Cane Juice.

>> Non-GMO papaya and corn in the produce section.

>> Local meats that include grass-fed beef from the Big Island.

>> Lanikai Juice bar providing cold pressed juices, smoothies and bowls.

>> Banh mi sandwiches by La Tour Cafe.

>> Vegan menu items from Juicy Brew, including the luau stew, kalo crunch salad and ulu chowder.

>> From Block to Bowl, a large selection of the local fish is purchased daily from the Honolulu Fish Auction. A pop-up poke bowl bar will feature seven to 15 varieties of poke with customized toppings.
