Work continues on Pacific Palisades water main break

Board of Water Supply crews are continuing work this morning to fix a 16-inch water main break on Komo Mai Drive at the hairpin turn near the bottom of Pacific Palisades.

The break was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Crews are replacing at least nine feet of broken water main, and expect to continue throughout the day.

Traffic lanes are modified to allow for one lane to be open in each direction on Komo Mai Drive near the hairpin turn. To ensure everyone’s safety on the roadway, motorists are asked to drive slowly and with caution through the area, as the lanes are narrower than usual to accommodate for two-way traffic as well as the repairs. Repairs to the main are expected to continue throughout the day.

While Pacific Palisades has water service, the board asks that area residents conserve water — and only use it sparingly for essential tasks such as cooking, cleaning and sanitary needs — until further notice to allow the system to recover.
