The Hawaii County Fire Department rescued a swimmer in her 30s this afternoon by helicopter at the South Point Landing in Kau.
Fire rescue personnel were called at 3:56 p.m. to a swimmer in distress. The first unit arrived to find the woman hanging off a ladder at an area called “The Ladders” mooring area.
Fire personnel entered the water to assist the woman, and helped to extricate her by helicopter.
The woman received minor scrapes to her legs.
Twenty fire personnel were involved in the rescue.
