A player on the last line of defense — safety Trayvon Henderson — was at the forefront of the University of Hawaii football team’s pro day.

Henderson had an oh-wow performance before 30 pro-football scouts at Tuesday’s combine-like event on the Azusa Pacific University and Citrus College campuses in California. A dozen former Rainbow Warriors participated.

Henderson, who earned a UH degree in December, ran 40 yards in 4.56 seconds, with a 20-yard split of 2.65, and 10-yard split of 1.59. Henderson, who is 6 feet, 1⁄8 inches and 208 pounds, had the best marks in the vertical jump (391⁄2 inches), broad jump (10 feet, 4 inches), short shuttle (4.15 seconds), three-cone drill (6.88 seconds) and long shuttle (11.13 seconds).

“He performed well,” UH coach Nick Rolovich said of Henderson. “His name was buzzing around that field with the scouts.”

It was the second strong audition for Henderson, who also drew praise for his preparation and performance in the past February’s Senior Bowl.

“I felt good,” Henderson said.

He said he had hoped to match his personal best of 4.50 in the 40, a time he achieved while training in San Diego.

Henderson attracted attention from the several NFL teams. He is expected to be invited to private workouts leading to the April 26-28 NFL Draft. His immediate goal “is to stay in shape.”

Offensive lineman Dejon Allen and running back Diocemy Saint Juste also drew notice. Allen played left tackle the past two years after aligning at guard his first two UH seasons. He projects to play guard or center as a pro, but his experience on the perimeter expands his options.The Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers have shown the most interest in Allen.

Allen bench-pressed 225 pounds 29 times. He also covered 40 yards in 4.98 seconds. One scout had Allen timed at sub-4.9.

Saint Juste had the fastest times over 40 yards (4.53 seconds), 20 yards (2.59) and 10 yards (1.58).
