The Hokule‘a will sail to Hawaii island this week for a two-month visit as part of the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s “Mahalo, Hawaii” sail.
During the visit the society will offer free presentations, talk-story sessions, canoe tours, volunteer opportunities and family-friendly events. The sail is a way of sharing lessons learned from the Hokule‘a’s three-year Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage, which ended last summer.
Thousands of public and private school students will have an opportunity to tour the canoe and participate in educational activities focusing on wayfinding and voyaging.
