Hawaii first baseman Rachael Turner’s single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Rainbow Wahine softball team a 3-2 win over North Dakota on Friday in the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic.
The Rainbow Wahine (15-12) posted 10 hits to North Dakota’s six but went into the bottom of the seventh trailing 2-0. The Wahine loaded the bases on two singles and a walk and Jennifer Iseri drilled a double to right center to score Jenna Kumabe and Danielle Garcielita with the tying runs. Nicole Lopez was walked intentionally to load the bases again. One out later, Turner singled into left field to drive in Brittnee Rossi with the game winner.
UH’s rally gave senior Dana Thomsen a complete-game victory. Thomsen (9-8) struck out eight and walked two and the Wahine won in their final turn at bat for the third time in the last four games.
The tournament continues today with UH facing Cleveland State at 4 p.m.
