Police have initiated a terroristic threatening investigation after a threat was made against Mid-Pacific Institute in Manoa.

It’s unclear exactly what time the threat was made. A police vehicle was observed entering the campus shortly before noon today.

In a letter addressed to parents today, Mid-Pacific president Paul Turnbull said, “there is no immediate threat to the school.”

He said that students had raised concerns about a classmate last week.

“Since that time, in partnership with the family, we worked to provide the student and the family with support services,” the letter said. “The student is currently receiving professional care and will not be returning to campus.”

A school spokesman said that student was connected to today’s incident and he has been expelled.

Michelle Yu, Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman, said there were no arrests.

Mid-Pacific Institute has approximately 1,580 students from preschool to grade 12.
