An 18-year-old man has been charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in a drainage ditch near Kahala Mall.
Raphael Holley was charged last week with second-degree sexual assault and was being held Saturday at Oahu Community Correctional Center with his bail set at $300,000. He is accused of luring the girl to the drainage ditch on Feb. 17 and assaulting her as she yelled for help and pleaded with him to stop, according to a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court.
He then let the girl go
and she called police, the
affidavit said. Responding officers found her shaking and crying hysterically in her mother’s vehicle at the mall. The girl told police that Holley, an acquaintance, offered her a ride home. As they were walking to his vehicle, he suggested they take a detour through
a drainage ditch near
4117 Waialae Ave. While
police were talking to her, she pointed out Holley as
he walked across the Times Supermarket parking lot,
according to the affidavit.
When police arrested him, Holley denied raping the girl, saying their encounter was consensual, the affidavit said.
