Moanalua woman accused of fatally stabbing Marine husband
Prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Moanalua woman today in the death of her husband, a Marine sergeant.
The incident occurred at 11:17 p.m. Sunday on Ala Kapuna Street when Evelin Iturbide allegedly stabbed Sgt. Juan Iturbide. He died at Kaiser Medical Center of a stab wound, the Marine Corps said in a press release.
Iturbide, 24, a native of Orange, Calif., served as a food service specialist at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. He joined the Marine Corps in 2012 and was promoted to his present rank last year.
“We mourn the loss of Sgt. Iturbide. Our deepest condolences remain with his family and friends,” said Col. Raul Lianez, commanding officer, MCBH, in a press release. “The sympathy and respect offered by the local community is appreciated by the Marines and families of MCBH.”
Evelin Iturbide’s bail has been set at $750,000.
