Hawaii’s Billy Kemper emerged victorious in an all-Hawaii final at the Sunset Open in Haleiwa.
Maui’s Ian Gentil and Ian Walsh were second and third, respectively, while Hawaii’s Barron Mamiya was fourth.
Kemper finished with a final score of 15.94, just edging out Gentil’s score of 15.70. To reach the finals, Gentil had the lone perfect score of the day in his semifinal heat.
With the win, Kemper is now the top-ranked surfer on the Big Wave Tour.
