Mililani alum Angela Lee will defend her ONE Championship atomweight title against Mei Yamaguchi on May 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a ONE official confirmed Saturday.
Lee (8-0) was originally scheduled to fight Yamaguchi in a rematch of their May 2016 bout in November of last year, but was injured in a car accident weeks before the fight.
The 21-year-old suffered minor injuries in the accident, but had to postpone the bout to May.
Yamaguchi (17-10) is the only fighter to go the distance against Lee, who has submitted six of her eight opponents and scored a TKO over another.
Yamaguchi lost a unanimous decision against Lee in the company’s first women’s world title fight.
Since defeating Yamaguchi, Lee scored a third-round TKO of Jenny Huang and submitted Istela Nunes in her last fight in May 2017.
The 12-month layoff will be the longest of Lee’s career since turning professional in 2015.
Lee is one of three fighters from Hawaii currently holding titles in major organizations.
Waianae’s Max Holloway will defend the UFC featherweight title against Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 222 on March 3 in Las Vegas.
Punahou alumna Ilima-Lei Macfarlane won the inaugural Bellator flyweight women’s title in December with a fifth-round submission of Emily Ducote.
Macfarlane is 7-0 professionally with four submission victories and one TKO win.
Holloway has won 12 consecutive fights in the UFC dating back to 2013.
