Emergency Medical Services treated a 50-year-old woman who fell about 70 feet down the side of a mountain Tuesday in the Koolaus.
EMS said in a report that the woman received serious injuries at about 1:30 p.m. while hiking at the Koolau summit.
EMS personnel treated her with “advanced lifesaving care” in Hahaione Valley in Hawaii Kai before taking her to a hospital, said Shayne Enright, Emergency Services Department spokeswoman.
“She was standing on the side of a ledge, fell, tumbled, slid and landed, but remained awake and never lost consciousness,” Enright said.
The woman suffered neck, back and wrist pain, she said.
Millilani town home ravaged in fire
No cause or damage estimates were available Tuesday on a three-alarm fire in Mililani that severely damaged a town-house unit, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire broke out at about 6:57 p.m. Monday at 94-364 Kapuahi St.
The first HFD unit arrived “to find smoke and flames raging” from a two-story town house. Besides the one unit that was severely damaged, two adjacent units sustained minor smoke and water damage, HFD Capt. Scot Seguirant said.
The fire was brought under control at 7:15 p.m. and was fully extinguished at 8:31 p.m.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Nearby residents got out safely with no injuries.
The American Red Cross was called to assist.
HFD reminds residents to have a working smoke detector to alert residents to a fire.
