The Korean American Foundation Hawaii will celebrate the 115th anniversary of the Korean immigration to Hawaii and the United States with a fundraising banquet on Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki.
On Jan. 13, 1903, the first Korean immigrants arrived in Hawaii aboard the USS Gaelic to work in the plantation fields.
The banquet opens at 5 p.m. with cultural displays; the program starts at 6 p.m. Local Korean-Americans will be recognized for their community service with the Light of the Orient Award. Tickets are $125, which includes dinner and a show. Info: kafoundationhi.org.
“We are grateful beneficiaries of the first immigrants and those who followed,” said Daniel Pyun, chairman of the Korean American Foundation Hawaii. “They faced and overcame many challenges to make a new life and future. Now as an integral part of Hawaii’s multi-ethnic community, we support efforts to promote and share the spirit of Korea.”

>> Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Scab and Jong-sam are put in a dire situation. Jong-sam loses one person for whom he cares deeply, but is given a chance at a new life to fight the injustice. Jong-sam chooses to live and undo the wrong.

>> Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Jung-joo pushes forward with proving her brother’s innocence. She faces Do Jin-myung in court. Myung-hee tells her husband she can redeem herself only by proving Kyung-ho’s innocence. Jung-joo warns Han-joon to keep away from the case, but he refuses.
Episodes 23-24
>> Thursday, 7:45 p.m.: Do Jin-myung’s domestic abuse makes the papers. Han-joon is upset at seeing Jung-joo and Ui-hyun working so well together. Myung-hee tells Han-joon there’s more to what he sees that will soon be revealed. Myung-hee is called to court.
