The Kauai Fire Department rescued two hikers in separate incidents Monday.
At about 10:30 a.m. police dispatch was notified of a 54-year-old male who injured his back along the Kalalau Trail in Hanakoa Valley. The man was airlifted by firefighters aboard Air 1 and flown to Princeville Airport, where awaiting medics transported him to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
At around noon firefighters were informed of a female who broke her ankle along the hiking trail to Uluwehi Falls. Firefighters aboard Air 1 left Princeville toward the Wailua River, located the injured woman and transported her to a nearby landing area, where she was assessed by waiting medics.
Death of boy, 7, ruled as accidental drowning
A 7-year-old Mililani boy who was found in a pool died of accidental drowning, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.
The child, Paul “Kevin” Rozier, who was autistic, wandered away from home Sunday at about 5 p.m., police said.
CrimeStoppers issued a bulletin and a search was conducted overnight.
He was found Monday morning in the swimming pool of a vacant home near his house.
