It’s Christmas Eve — so in the spirit of the season, we’re gifting readers with a bevy of editorial cartoons that recap 2017.
Each month’s offering reminds us how cyclonic it’s been for the U.S. — in very large part, due to President Donald Trump. Just a few of the headlines: January’s inauguration was quickly followed by February’s firing of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, followed by FBI Director James Comey’s firing in May then congressional testimony in June.
Environmental rollbacks, the Russian investigation, Trumpcare’s “repeal and replace” mantra, North Korea tensions, mass shootings plus gun control, and tax reform made news. So, too, did airlines’ mistreatment of fliers, destructive storms and firings for sexual harassment and assault.
In Hawaii, it was a year of monster houses, Louis and Katherine Kealoha indictments, more homeless sweeps, more money for overbudget rail, king tides and cute monk seals — and oh, Trump was here, too.
Enjoy, and happy holidays from the Star-Advertiser’s opinion-editorial staff.
