Rainbow Wahine lose to Oregon in Duel in the Desert

Sophomore guard Sabrina Ionescu scored 19 points and No. 10 Oregon used 11 3-pointers to roll past Hawaii 85-44 in the Duel in the Desert women’s basketball tournament today in Las Vegas.

Sophomore forward Ruthy Hebard added 18 points and senior guard Lexi Bando had 14 first-half points, including four 3-pointers, for the Ducks (11-2).

Sophomore guard Julissa Tago scored 11 points to lead the Rainbow Wahine (6-6). Hawaii led 3-0 before Oregon went on a 14-0 run to take control midway through the first quarter.

Wahine junior point guard Tia Kanoa was named to the all-tournament team. She had four points, three assists and two rebounds today agains the Ducks.

Hawaii returns home to finish the nonconference season against Hawaii Pacific (8-2) on Dec. 30 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Game time is 7 p.m.
