Pentagon names new Schofield commander

Maj. Gen. Ronald P. “Ron” Clark

The Pentagon announced today that Maj. Gen. Ronald P. Clark, chief of staff for U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, will be moving to Wahiawa to command the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks.

Clark will replace Maj. Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, who assumed 25th Infantry command duties on Aug. 4, 2016. Cavoli will take command of U.S. Army Europe, according to DefenseNews.com.

The exchange of officers between Fort Shafter and Schofield will continue with the additional announcement that Brig. Gen. Peter B. Andrysiak Jr., deputy commanding general for support at Schofield, will become chief of staff for U.S. Army Pacific.

Clark has previous experience in Hawaii.

The 1988 West Point graduate served with the 25th Division in command of B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, and later as aide-de-camp to the division commanding general.

He commanded the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) both at Fort Campbell, Ky. and in Iraq. He was also deputy chief of staff for operations for the NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.
