Hawaii Pacific’s Niksha Federico and Gabriella Fotu were named PacWest basketball defenders of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Federico, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from San Diego, claimed the men’s honor for the third time this season after recording 22 points, 14 rebounds, one block and one steal in a 79-72 win over Harding (Ark.) on Sunday.
Fotu, a 5-10 junior forward from Auckland, New Zealand, won the women’s honor after combining for 15 points, 13 rebounds, eight blocks and five steals in wins over Douglas (Canada) and Harding (Ark.).
Chaminade women fall in hoops
Diamond Carter scored 19 points and Destiny Castro added 17, but the Chaminade women’s basketball team lost to Notre Dame (Ohio) 76-66 on Monday at McCabe Gym.
Kali Benavente had 11 points and six assists for the Silverswords (1-5).
Katie Karalic scored 14 points for the Falcons (9-4).
