Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man in Maili.
Police said an area resident found the victim with suspicious injuries on a rocky shoreline in proximity to a residential area near Maili Beach Park at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday. Though the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release his name, relatives confirmed his identity as Dustin Molina.
Police have classified the case as an unattended death and the Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy.
Arson cause of fire at vacant Nanakuli home
The Honolulu Fire Department said a Tuesday night Nanakuli house fire was intentionally set, referring the case to the police arson unit.
Firefighters responded to a building fire at about 8:30 p.m. at 81-212 Mikana St. and brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, extinguishing it by 9:16 p.m. The home was reported to be derelict and unoccupied.
Estimated damage is $10,000 for the structure and $500 to its contents. No injuries were reported.
Bicyclist dies in collision with vehicle in Hilo
A 70-year-old male bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway 19 near Hau Lane in Hilo early Wednesday morning, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the accident at about 6 a.m. and found the bicyclist dead on arrival. A 26-year-old man, who had been driving the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital due to neck pain. The scene was turned over to the Hawaii Police Department. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Body of dead hiker found on Hawaii island
A hiker was discovered on Tuesday afternoon along the coastline in Kalapana Gardens on Hawaii island.
Hawaii County police said the badly decomposed body was found clad in a gray T-shirt and green shorts in a remote location.
Because of the body’s advanced state of decomposition, the age, gender or identity of the victim could not be immediately determined.
Police secured the scene until Wednesday morning. The body was airlifted by the fire department’s helicopter out of the area and transported to the Hilo Medical Center, where a death pronouncement was made. An autopsy was requested.
The case is classified as an unattended death.

Police seek help in locating woman, 21
Police are seeking help in finding a 21-year-old woman who is emotionally distraught.
Kristyn Lauronal was last seen at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday leaving from Lake View Circle in Wahiawa.
Her family and friends are concerned for her safety and well-being.
Lauronal is Hawaiian, 5-feet-2, weighs 165 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, black leggings and black shoes.
