Police arrest man in sex assault of bus passenger

Police arrested Pn Meikei at 12:10 p.m. today, charged him, then released him on $2,000 bail.

A 30-year-old man who followed a woman off a bus and allegedly sexually assaulted her in Windward Oahu was charged today with fourth-degree sexual assault.

Police arrested Pn Meikei at 12:10 p.m. today, charged him, then released him on $2,000 bail.

CrimeStoppers thanked the public for help in locating the man after a CrimeStoppers bulletin was issued Monday.

Fourth-degree sexual assault is a misdemeanor, which could mean the suspect exposed himself or could include touching.

The woman was on a bus at about 4:40 p.m. Aug. 2 when the man began talking with her and made her feel uncomfortable.

She got off at Windward Mall, and he followed her inside and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman notified a store employee and mall security was notified.

The woman caught the bus with a friend, and the same man followed her onto the bus and talked to her.

The woman got off at Castle Medical Center and notified police.
